Affilia is pleased to announce the addition of  Jean H. Lavoie to its team as Attorney and Strategic Advisor.

A recognized authority in governance, international law, and economic development, Jean brings a wealth of experience to help businesses and organizations expand their operations and build lasting partnerships across African markets.

With over 30 years of international field experience, Jean has worked alongside governments, international organizations, and private sector leaders to design and implement major economic and institutional reforms. His deep understanding of local dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and political and economic contexts provides clients with a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges shaping the African continent.

Before joining Affilia, Jean held senior leadership and advisory roles with renowned institutions such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the American Bar Association. He has led significant initiatives across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, contributing to reform programs and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Drawing on his extensive knowledge of African public institutions, international investors, and the local private sector, Jean will serve as a strategic partner to Affilia’s clients seeking to explore or strengthen their presence on the continent — helping them navigate risks and maximize long-term impact.

A graduate in law from Université Laval and holder of a Master’s degree in International Law from the London School of Economics, Jean combines legal expertise, strategic insight, and political acumen to empower his clients’ success in complex international environments.
