Jean-Marc Clément counts among his clients multinational corporations, SMEs, and startups located in Canada and abroad. All seek his advice and rely on his good judgment to improve their global competitiveness and ensure better planning of their international operations while complying with their cross- border obligations. Over time, he has become the trusted advisor to many executives and managers at all levels of a company on a range of subjects related to international trade. His expertise covers several topics: customs procedures, tariffs, refunds, international procurement, supply chain, import and export controls, anti- dumping and countervailing duties, free trade agreements, transfer pricing, economic and trade sanctions, governance, anti-corruption laws affecting foreign trade, conducting due diligence reviews, voluntary disclosures, audit defense, and government relations. He regularly defends his clients’ interests in dispute resolution proceedings both with the administration and before the courts. He has often acted as counsel before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and the federal courts. He has won several complex litigation cases representing prestigious clients. He has served two consecutive terms on the Board of Directors of IE Canada (the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters), an association for which he also held the position of President of the Quebec chapter. He is a member of the executive committee for Quebec of AMCHAM (the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada). He was recently invited to join the Advisory Committee of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.
