With just a few weeks remaining before the May 31, 2025 deadline for submitting reports under the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (Bill S-211), Florence Beauregard delivered a clear, informative, and well-structured presentation to members of the Onit network.
In her presentation, Florence broke down the core obligations outlined in the legislation and addressed a range of practical questions, including:
- Who is required to submit a report;
- What specific information the report must contain;
- And how to develop a rigorous, coherent approach to compliance.
Under this law, certain Canadian and foreign entities are required to publish an annual report detailing the measures they have taken to prevent and reduce the risk of forced labour and child labour in their operations and supply chains. Reports must:
- Be attested by a member of senior management;
- Be submitted to the federal Minister of Public Safety;
- And be made publicly available no later than May 31.
Florence’s presentation helped demystify what is often seen as a complex compliance process, while underscoring the serious human rights and regulatory implications at stake.
For many attendees, the session served as a valuable starting point—whether they were initiating their planning or putting the final touches on their report.
